Get Involved

Are you a University of Nevada, Reno student interested in independent and underground music? The local music scene? Music journalism? We are looking for music experts and volunteer writers, no prior radio experience required. Listed below are the volunteer opportunities within Wolf Pack Radio.

Host a Radio Show

Wolf Pack Radio broadcasts freeform programming where DJs have creative control and freedom to play what they want on their radio show. DJs are expected to remain true to the spirit of independent college radio and create programming that is in line with the stationā€™s mission statement: ā€œDevoted to broadening musical tastes in Reno while adding to, supporting and growing the local cultural landscape.ā€ Show applications for new and returning DJs are accepted at the beginning of the Fall and Spring semesters. The DJ application is closed for the fall semester, but will open in the spring.

Contribute To The Blog

We need writers for our blog that are interested in writing about current music that is not played on commercial radio! We welcome album and show reviews, artist spotlights, scene histories, interviews, photo series, and more. This is an opportunity to grow your portfolio, get your work published, and gain experience writing for a music blog. Current and former UNR students are especially encouraged to contribute. Please email interest or a pitch to ourĀ general manager with the subject line “Blog Contribution” to get started: If you would like to get involved, please complete this form (link: Application Form) and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Submit a Mix or Story

We accept submissions of original DJ sets or mixes curated by UNR students to air on Wolf Pack Radio (up to 2 hours). This is a great way to get your work broadcasted and a one-off alternative to being a recurring DJ if you’re not sure if you can commit to a weekly radio show. We also accept audio stories and interviews created by students (Journalism undergraduates are especially encouraged to submit their work to us)! Please email a detailed playlist of your mix to ourĀ general manager, a summary of your story, or a description of your interview, along with a medium-quality .mp3 of your segment, with the subject line “Student Segment Submission.”

If you have any questions or alternative ways you would like to get involved at Wolf Pack Radio, please reach out to ourĀ general manager.
