Are you a University of Nevada, Reno student interested in independent and underground music? The local music scene? Music journalism? We are looking for music experts and volunteer writers, no prior radio experience required. Listed below are the volunteer opportunities within Wolf Pack Radio.
Host a Radio Show
Wolf Pack Radio broadcasts freeform programming where DJs have creative control and freedom to play what they want on their radio show. DJs are expected to remain true to the spirit of independent college radio and create programming that is in line with the station’s mission statement: “Devoted to broadening musical tastes in Reno while adding to, supporting and growing the local cultural landscape.” Show applications for new and returning DJs are accepted at the beginning of the Fall and Spring semesters. Apply here: Wolf Pack Radio DJ Application.
Contribute To The Blog
We need writers for our blog that are interested in writing about current music that is not played on commercial radio! We welcome album and show reviews, artist spotlights, scene histories, interviews, photo series, and more. This is an opportunity to grow your portfolio, get your work published, and gain experience writing for a music blog. Current and former UNR students are especially encouraged to contribute. Please email interest or a pitch to our general manager with the subject line “Blog Contribution” to get started.
Submit a Mix or Story
We accept submissions of original DJ sets or mixes curated by UNR students to air on Wolf Pack Radio (up to 2 hours). This is a great way to get your work broadcasted and a one-off alternative to being a recurring DJ if you’re not sure if you can commit to a weekly radio show. We also accept audio stories and interviews created by students (Journalism undergraduates are especially encouraged to submit their work to us)! Please email a detailed playlist of your mix to our general manager, a summary of your story, or a description of your interview, along with a medium-quality .mp3 of your segment, with the subject line “Student Segment Submission.”
